Iron Forest
Copper trees scrape the heavens.
Their origins are entwined among electrical circuits and cables.
metallic leaf clinks
Wind humming a lullaby of electrons and rust.
I wander under thinking branches,
their shadows moving like real equations,
and hear the whisper of bark remembering centuries
Copper veins preserve its memory.
Steel and glass birds
singing in binary, pecking at wires
And for a moment I am not unfamiliar.
Still, a cathedral student
of this living, humming woodland.
The ground rumbles under my feet.
an electronic heartbeat,
I also touch a tree’s root.
feeling the throbbing of machinery and earth
combined in a weird, life symbiosis.
Here, in the iron forest,
I understand the woods never rests.
It waits.
it looks,
It still remembers.
and somewhat it makes allowances for being human.
