We are creatures of Earth and we go by Water
We are creatures of Earth and we go by Water
Our silent barges slide through violet waterways
Behind the warehouses
No window overlooks our passing
No anglers see us as we go by
The banks and towpaths are deserted
And over there behind the wall
Is where we found the crashed bomber
Dragging it to the factory to be re-processed
And over there on the playing field
Is where we dug for strange minerals
And here is where our library was
Here amongst the ruins
Where now only old men gather
To drink and remember.
