Thing To Happen
All Week.

In the kitchen at work,
a gargantuan
daddy long legs lands
in the bug zapper
to an electric
drum solo of death –
as we watch
its poor body
get cocooned
by sparks,
before splitting
and melting between
the live metal bars,
as we’re promptly told
to get back to
the chopping, washing,
baking and the reality
of our white tiled room –
whilst we sniff at
the fleeting smell of smoke,
like kids
leaving
a fireworks display.
