Miscommunication

It was evident

by how voraciously

she unbuttoned

my button

and unzipped

my zipper

that she had not understood

what I had meant

when I had said

I only wanted

a Platonic relationship.

Intimidation

You don’t soon forget

when you walk into

your boss’s office

and spot a shrunken

head resting on his

desk like a ball he

squeezes to relax.

Pascal’s Wager

My wife says if I do nothing else, I should at least go to church, I should at least put in that much effort, if not for myself, then for the sake of our boys, to set an example for them. But as I point out, it’s just as possible that God, should He exist, would prefer that we not go to church, that, in fact, He may dislike churchgoing as much as I do, and thus, by going to church, not only would I risk burning in Hell for all eternity, and setting up my sons for a similar fate, but I would also miss out on sleeping in on Sundays, which is what I would prefer to do. So, on Sundays, she and the boys go to church, and I sleep in.

La La Land: A Review

I don’t like musicals

I hate jazz

It didn’t have much of a story

And I loved it
